The cylinder is a crucial internal component in airsoft electric guns, or AEGs. As the name implies, the shape of this part is that of a cylindrical tube.
Its main function is to determine the primary volume of air used in each operational cycle, or shot, of the airsoft electric gun. There are different cutout patterns and wall thicknesses available for different volume requirements. The cutout determines the starting point at which air will be sealed by the piston head and correlates to the amount of air volume that the cylinder will transfer.
It is important to get the right cylinder for the application. Choosing the wrong cylinder may result in sub-optimal performance and may actually impede accuracy resulting in unwanted noise. Some even claim that the wrong cylinder choice may reduce the AEG’s operational life span.
